Tortion Syndrome outbreak among DDI users linked to LeEMS personality?

The first brain transferable computer virus, called Tortion Syndrome, has had Direct Digital Interface implants on the decline for almost four years now. DDI users have stopped plugging in and young adults have increasingly opted not to have the procedure at all. High level technical positions have been lacking applicants and losing workers at increasing rates. Hope may be shining on the horizon now that a new study may have pinpointed the cause and solution to the DDI problem.

Rollion associates claim to have evidence supporting the theory that the LeEMS personality, left behind by LeEMS founder LeEtta Schmidt, is causing the virus by attempting to overlay itself on living personalities. Dr. Allantis, Rollion’s head researcher, postulates that LeEMS maybe attempting to recreate herself in the real world by hijacking a body. If this theory proved correct then deactivating the LeEMS may prove to make the digital world safe for everyone once again.

Legal agents for the LeEMS’ heir, Ms. Tarks, had already tried to shut down the personality as it existed within the compound of the LeEMS estate, and failed. Allantis postulates that the LeEMS was already outside of the estate borders and that the attempt to shut it down only made it more virulent in the digital community. “It operates like living being, so it only makes sense that it would fight to survive when its habitat was taken from it. It most likely started long ago to find a way out once the direct heirs began to die off,” (Dr. Allantis).

Rollion associates is currently working to get government assistance to shut down the LeEMS personality. Since a large portion of the LeEMS personality is still based on the LeEMS estate, Rollion researchers cannot adequately purge the digital world of the threat until they can access the private property.
